There Are Plugs And Then There Are Plugs
A "plug" is when you promote something in the media. A good example
of a plug is when you work for a cable network like the Sci-Fi Channel on
an ultra-low budget show such as (and this is just an example, of course)
"C|Net Central." And then let's say (hypothetically again) that you're
assigned to the Cool Tech segment (which demonstrates new toys, products,
games, etc.) and told that in this show you're supposed to cover Mattel's
new Barbie Camera.
Just an example, of course.
Special thanks to Peter Dudycz for the video grabs (and who seems to appreciate the importance of dubbed episodes even though he prefers subtitles).
We're Beginning To Like This Sci-Fi Thing More And More.....
Well you like the camera, it's okay; it's cheap and it seems to work and
that's okay; and you like Barbie, she's okay too but YOU'D RATHER BE
COVERING ANYTHING TO DO WITH SAILOR MOON SINCE SHE'S ALL YOU'VE BEEN
THINKING ABOUT NIGHT AND DAY EVERY WEEK EVERY MONTH FOR YEARS NOW EXCEPT
THAT SHE'S ON THAT OTHER NETWORK THE NETWORK WHOSE NAME YOU
DARE NOT SPEAK NOR EVEN THINK ABOUT DURING COMPANY TIME AND WHICH YOU WOULD
BE "plugging" IF YOU EVEN DARED TO SHOW A PRODUCT RELATED TO IT AND SO YOU
DO THE NEXT BEST THING WHICH IS TO STICK (NOT ONE BUT) TWO SAILOR MOON
MODELS UP CLOSE TO THE CAMERA--FAR CLOSER THAN THAT STUPID WORTHLESS BARBIE
CAMERA IN THE DESPERATE, BITTER, FUTILE HOPE THAT SOMEONE,
ANYONE, WILL NOTICE WHAT YOU REALLY CARE ABOUT AND YOU
MAKE SURE THAT THE SAILOR MOON MODELS HAVE THEIR BACKS TURNED TOWARDS
CAMERA JUST IN CASE ANYONE IN MANAGEMENT RECOGNIZES THEM BUT SINCE WHEN HAS
MANAGEMENT NOTICED ANYTHING OF TRUE IMPORTANCE SINCE BARRY DILLER TOOK OVER
AND WHAT KIND OF ROLE-MODEL IS BARBIE ANYWAY NEXT TO SAILOR MOON AND THIS
IS NOT WHY YOU TOOK JOURNALISM AND TELEVISION CLASSES
TO BEGIN WITH AND THIS IS NOT WHY YOU FOUGHT TO GET
THIS JOB and you put on a blue wig.
